Carl Zeiss Jena Prakticar 50mm f:1.4 infos ?

Hello,

I have the opportunity to buy this lens but I know nothing about it. It's a Praktica B mount lens; Praktica-Users.com says it could be a design based on the former Pancolar 55/1.4.

Any informations are welcome !

Somebody told me that is a CZJ lens. I had read that for the praktica serie B, meyer and CZJ produced the same lenses (with schott and not poland's glass like in pentacons meyer lenses) and meyer did it with zeiss design. Sigma did lens with jena brand (made in Japan). But the 50 prakticar lens can be made in germany by CZJ. I haven't more information. Good luck.

Here, you might find some information on that lens.
In the scetch of the first version, it says, that Eberhard Dietzsch designed it,
and it's "similar to M42 mount Pancolar 55/1.4 lens"

Yes, the prakticar 50 mm 1,4 is "similar to M42 mount Pancolar 55/1.4 lens". But it's the same similitude between the prakticar and all the normals lenses with max aperture F/1,4 and seven elements with 3 elem in the front side and 4 in the rear. But I think that this share charasteristic not individualize the lens. The pancolar 55 1,4 (produced by CZJ in the 60's) is a big and heavy lens, with a certain distance between the elements and single coated, that are absolutelly differents in the prakticar (very small, with smaller glasses and smaller places between them and multicoated). And different focal (55 vs 50 mm). These are elements that permit to me say that both are completely and asolutely differents lenses (focal dist., color rendition, etc.). Regards

Carl Zeiss Jena 55mm f1.4 M42 zebra was designed for Pentacon super this lens a 100% pro lens. I am not sure about any Prakticar lens they same than M42 version. In Prakticar ages "Mr. Honecker" had strong relationship to Japanese companies so quality can be vary. I collect all kind of Carl Zeiss lenses, but not spend yet on any Prakticar lenses.

Attila, I'm with you. Good for the CZJ pancolar (little yellowish, no?). The schoot glasses.......The quality of Zeiss - without words-.
I saw only two of them from 1965. In Argentina the market is so little. i have a small quantity of jena lenses: Flek 4/20(previous to zebra, may be 1963) 2,8/20, 2,4/35, 1,8/50 (two MC - red and white) 2/50 zebra (6 elements in 5 groups), 135/3,5 zebra and MC.
A pancolar 1,8/80 and the 1,4/75 are all I want to incorporate. Hmmm...may be something more.
