thank you very much for the link of the flickr search Michael!
really stunning samples taken with the 1.2/50 there, particularly the wide open shots of a Mr. Stephen Lee, I guess of his son, check them out!

( the slight corners in the oof highlights in the sample you show suggest that the lens either was set to just a tad less than fully open or is slightly defective, doesn't fully open )

I believe that the sharpness of fast lenses often has been criticized by users who are not able to focus these lenses all that well, that enlarged digital view really helps and makes many of these lenses shine like never before

Very nice images made with that 50/1.8 lens. I love the bokeh!
I have one, but up to now never used it - have no mirrorless system camera at home.
The high weight of this lens is indeed a suprise.

Unfortunately, this Canon is pretty expensive nowadays. Sad

Interesting news!
After the Xenon 25/0.95 loose its Ebay-value at least the Serenar gains value Smile

thank you very much for showing these samples Koji, impressive, these Canons have a very pleasing 'signature'. I am surprised that this comes as responses to my thread only showing two pics taken with the f1.8, as it must be a sign that there has not been much talking here about these lenses before.

but hey, I just got the 1.8/50, stop tempting me with the 1.4/50 and even more so with the f1.2!! Smile
joking aside, I much hope that mflenses members will share even more of their experience with Canon LTM lenses and show us their samples!

hm..no response to that, but anyhow I just decided to make a - only fast and dirty but nevertheless - ISO 1600 and ISO 3200 comparison of NEX5N and GXR M, see: http://forum.mflenses.com/high-iso-nex5n-ricoh-gxr-m-t60061.html

wow, they are beautiful!
what an amazing collection you have.
Serenars are heavier than later Canon RF, right? Have you made any observations on how they perform?

sure looks like a rather special lens, the f1.2, Hoan! thank you for your samples

I am not tempting you with the f1.2, but if you can get one fast 50, get the canon ltm 1.2.
It's not perfect, but the outcome do not need or very little post processing.
So far it is among my best f1.2 lenses. One thing i like specially about these ltm 50s is focus throw: from 1m to infinity is 180 degrees,
While pentax A 50/1.2 has only 90 degrees. OM 55/1.2 has ~60 degrees.

thank you for the feedback Hoan.
I have never yet owned nor shot a f1.2, even though I 'only' use my lenses on APS-C I never felt much urge to get one neither.
Great to know that the Canon LTM compares well against the best 1.2/50 LR lenses because for my mirrorless cams I much prefer the smaller size of the RF glass, so if I ever will get a f1.2 the Canon LTM just moved up top on priority list Wink
The focus throw of my f1.8 also is abt. 180 degrees but nevertheless I must admit that I don't like it's handling all that much. This because I still find it difficult to distinguishing focus ring and aperture ring, which have the exact same diameter and the same feeling grooves, by touch only. Using the lens more, and that's what I am doing right now, should improve that though Wink

This looks promising Hoan!

Very nicely presented for a f/1.2 lens! Very Happy
I bet this lens is a amazing portrait shooter as well, congratz with a real gem!

I would be happy to see a portrait using this lens wide open if you have the possibility Wink

IMO, they are good performers, not top notch but good Wink
And yes, they feels like a bit heavier in general than the later Canon LTM lenses

The weakest of these must be the 135mm Serenar, it is better to go for the later 135mm LTM silver Canon. The 85mm is a good lens, but the later 85mm f/1.8 is supposed to be better!

The lenses are among my most beautiful ones, so you can say I have these also for collector reasons Wink

You should try the 85mm, prices used to be pretty low for this one..

thank's a lot for coming back and the additional information Nordentro
your f2/85 Serenar seems a very good performer, and your collection really is something Wink
