Is this typical or am I doing something wrong or is this adapter defective?

Aperture ring doesn't turn from AE to less than 8, so can't use 5.6-2.8 etc

I've got two Tamron adaptall adapters for Canon FD and they are both different, but I'm not at home to check them - I seem to think one of my adapters will only do a certain range of f stops, which is why I got another.

My Nikon and Contax adapters allow full range, I wonder if this is somehow adjustable?

Both of my fd adapters are fine

Was lens aperture wide open when you mounted it to adapter?

yes (2.8 ), when I turn the lens to lock position, aperture control turns the ring to 8
it's like the scale is too small? Confused

Perhaps try different Tamron FD adapter both mine work fine.Regards
