hello

the big boy get it's annual walk for "fise world montpellier 2017". some shoots with canon fd 400mm 2.8, most of them at f4.
the a6000 is amazing for continus shooting.

What a magnificent set of shots! The Canon FD 400/2.8 L has been a dream lens for me for decades. Maybe one of these days . . .

yes very heavy ( 6.5kg + tripod )
the new generation is only 3kg with autofocus but not the same price at all Wink

The nFD 2.8/400mm is actually about 5.4kg. The newest Canon EF 2.8/400mm IS II is 3.9 kg.
A substantial reduction, but not as dramatic as your numbers suggest Wink

The EF 2.8/400mm IS II has a "normal" (probably LD) front element and two quite large fluorit elements inside. It has no CAs at all, and its performance wide open is spectacular.
The nFD 2.8/400mm L has two large UD lenses (protected by two huge & heavy planparallel filters!!), its monochromatic correction is nearly perfect, and it has little CAs at F2.8. Stopped down to f4 or f5.6, there are visible CAs, though.
