I have a Canon EOS 5 35mm SLR and the handgrip has become "sticky" to the touch over the years. Does anyone know why this happens and if there is a cure? I believe this is a common problem with these cameras.

It sounds as if the surface of the grip is chemically degrading. Which isn't a very helpful observation
