OK, this is a manual focus forum and we all love these old marvels...But we all know that sometimes we need af , for various reasons or just for no reason at all .I saw that there are available electronic adapters to fit canon eos lenses to nex sony .Did somebody used such an adapter and how do you think about it? _________________ Cheers ,Teo

It can be used for manual Zeiss EOS mount lenses too. _________________ https://www.instagram.com/_lens_fever/

Not yet, but I'm also interested in knowing how an EF lens will operate when used on a NEX. I have a straight EOS to NEX adapter that I've used with my Sigma mirror, which has an EOS mount, but I've never used EF enses with the adapter. Mostly because I'm thinking there's no way to control the aperture. So I don't care as much about AF with the EF lenses as I do about aperture control. _________________ Michael

It will allow AF, IS and aperture control on the compatible EF lenses just like it is mount on a Canon camera. If use on the new A7RII with the new on-sensor PDAF, the focus speed will be as fast as on a Canon camera.
As a side note, Sony Hong Kong starts pre-order of the Metabones Canon EF to E-Mount/NEX IV on their website http://www.sony.com.hk/products/apps/product/simplePage.do?modelCode=50358502&lang=en . _________________ https://www.instagram.com/_lens_fever/

You could buy a cheap one like the one in Viltrox brand Click here to see on Ebay. However, check if your lens is compatable before you buy it.
P.S. Make sure don't use an expensive lens without out warranty to test the adapter... _________________ https://www.instagram.com/_lens_fever/

I bought the Fotodiox Pro auto adapter to adapt my EF-S lenses to the Sony A6000 nex mount. Paid approx $100+
It is a mixed bag of blessings.
First of:
- some lenses are working reasonably OK (like my old Canon 18-55 kit lens)
- some lenses are detected but suffer from unexpected disconnects and the camera stalls/freezes with a black screen.
- some lenses are just not detected (Sigma 105mm macro old version) and are unusable.
The AF is slow in all cases and in some cases extremely slow. The AF is always hunting as I think that it works by positioning by relative approximations. When light levels drop, the accuracy of the focussing drops in a spectacular way !
For AFAIK new EF/EF-S lenses have NO aperture ring so they cannot be used in full MF mode IF the camera does not detect the lens ! ie if the aperture cannot be set from within the camera.
One of my "usable" lenses is the Sigma 18-200mm OSS ... I use it is full MF mode (camera wise) as in A priority I get frequent disconnects. The OSS is working but regularly stops being detected. .. and once in a while the camera just freezes with a black screen. Switching it off is kind of scary as for quite a number of seconds the camera is just not doing anything aka not even switching off !

Well, I researched quite some things *before* buying the adapter and I thought that I might be "lucky" and not run into all those, mainly AF, problems .. seems that I was naive
Maybe there are other/better adapters now (although mine is only6 months old) but I wouldn't hold my breath |

I did a bit of research myself also , and it seems you're right , no chance to get a good/fast AF/IS working/cheap price one . _________________ Cheers ,Teo
