Canon EF mount, do I go for M42 adapter or Nikon F?

Hi gang,

I picked up an older Canon dSLR that had been converted to shoot IR. I already own a bunch of Nikon glass (with aperture rings) so I thought an adapter to mount them on my Canon would work, but in losing AF, and a few other things, I got to thinking about all the great m42 glass that is out there, but I'm not sure which adapter would be better, in terms of focus to infinity, ease of use, etc.

Any opinions?

For me the M42 would win hands down, but I don't have any Nikon F mount lenses!
Given the relatively low cost of adapters, you could probably get both.
M42 would probably prove a little easier for focusing, as AF lenses tend to have a very short throw.

If you've got a stock of good lenses it would be a shame hot to be able to try them for the sake of a adapter.

I have F (Nikon) mount lenses, and I have an adapter coming, but I've read mixed reviews about the functionality.
Given how simple the m42 mount actually is, I thought I'd see if anyone had some direct experience and some suggestions for landscape m42 lenses

I use M42, Olympus, Yashica/Contax adapters on my 5D with great ease. The Pentax is a bit tricky, you have to do some work on the PK mount (might not be so on crop, i don't know). No experience with nikon though.....

Adapters come very cheap indeed, if you have both M42 and Nikon: get both adapters!
