I found these while organizing my negatives.

Thanks Attila. Funny until now I didn't like the ultramax 400 and I have a lot of it, or did. The more I use these FD lenses that I've had for years the more I like them. _________________ Ron |

Thanks Bill.
When I told you I didn't like the colors of ultramax I hadn't used it with vuescan. At least not with the advanced options. Their is a learning curve to it, but I can't believe how good the colors are. Generic colors is the only way to go.
I was lucky with the clouds that day. _________________ Ron |

Maybe I should give vuescan a look for my 4490, although the only really screaming color issues I've had
is with Ektar in 35mm.
BTW, the blue skies in these look outstanding on my monitor. |

Hi Bill,
I first got vuescan when I got your Epson 2450. I didn't like it at all. Not easy to understand the interface compared to Epson software. I found Silverfast easier to understand and used it a lot. After I got the Canon FS4000US I started using vuescan with it. Once I started reading about it and really getting into the instructions for the advanced options I found it really is pretty simple, must be I'm using it, and does a great job. I am now using it instead of silverfast even though I just upgraded to Silverfast 8. If you use the films they list for scanning, it comes out like crap. If you use the advanced options you can go generic and have great results.
If you download a free trial and try it I will e-mail you screen shots of all the settings I use, if you want. I just re-scanned some Ektar 100 and am really happy with the results. I really like the infrared cleaning. It doesn't degrade the picture any at all as long as you don't go above the medium setting. I used to set there cleaning little spots for ever. Out of a 36 shot roll I did today, I only found 1 little spot it missed. They come out as clean as they do from my 5DII. I don't know if the infrared cleaning works with Epson or not???? I'll have to try it with the 750.
I was very happy with the sky in those shots also. I have a bunch more from that shoot I should post, but not many are into film.
I'm still waiting for some nice shots from the big Mamiya and the EOS 1n's. _________________ Ron |
