I think I know why this lens is called "Dream Lens" now. Friends

Some interesting effects there!
I need to try the 1.2 version on some of this, not so extreme though.

F/0.95 is quite extreme indeed!

Thank you Luis. The Canon 50/1.2 has a very good reputation, I guess it will shine in your expert hands!

The 50/1.2 is very much worth your time to try out, it's the most compact 50/1.2 made.
I find mine to be sharp wide open, but not so dreamy, though it has no problem blurring the background.

great samples of a rare lens - the first is my fav, seeing how the monkey melts into the background is astonishing
it has nice colurs as well, but the colours I am used from my 1.2 version

The Canon 50/1.2 has indeed a good reputation for sharpness. Check this column by Roger Hicks: http://www.shutterbug.com/content/canon%E2%80%99s-50mm-f12-rangefinder-lens-legend-super-fast-realm

The lens has a large diameter but it's a lot lighter than a modern Canon 1.2L lens. And it becomes quite sharp in the center from f/1.2-f/1.4, although the extreme corners remain muddy, even at f/11. But I guess you don't carry an f/0.95 lens if you need to shoot corner to corner sharp landscape pictures!

No doubt about it. Interesting shots! I must say, a couple of them stopped me in my tracks. Thanks for sharing!

How did you mount it Sebastien? Is there a special adapter (assuming you have not the c-mount version of this lens)

The lens I have is the "TV" version, which was originally in c-mount, but mine has been adapted to Leica bayonet by Michael at eastcamtech.com. This is a good point because I can use it with a Yeenon helicoid adapter (Leica M to Sony E-mount), allowing the lens to focus much closer than the 1 meter default minimum focus.

Here are some pictures of the lens. First, mounted on the dwarf Sony A7:

The lens on the Yeenon close-focus adapter:

Custom job Leica mount (note the rangefinder coupling cam on top overhanging the rear element):

As the large diameter of the lens blocks access to the lens lock release on the camera body, there is an additional lever on the lens mount, which needs to be depressed in order to activate the lens lock release when the lens is mounted:

Interesting, looks like professional adaptation work in this case.

I usually prefer to avoid destructive modifications but in this case, I bought the lens already adapted from its previous owner. It's indeed a much more useful lens in Leica M mount than in c-mount (not to mention the confidential Canon RF external bayonet).
