+1 friend of mine frequently do it with great result. Once he did it on market , with a Zeiss telescope, paint wasn't dry fully , silly tourist did come and without any permit or question , he did try it .... He got nice double black eyes, friend of mine did say nothing , idiot with walk away on market with freshly purchased Zeiss telescope .... people couldn't stop laughing on him Laughing Laughing

It will be interesting if there is a technique to replicate the brassing and the paint loss.
If you just spray it with black paint the engravings will be black instead of yellow and it will not be so sexy looking:)

That Nikon on the link looks like someone painted the white texts.

But for $100000 camera, who wouldn't. Smile

Mom used to 'antique' furniture bought second-hand, chests of drawers and such. The technique is to apply darker paint over the base coat, then use rag to wipe off the most of the darker paint, to give a well-worn effect.
