One of the lenses I got from late grandpa is a 135mm f/2.8 Brenner.
The lens is 350gr 95x67mm M42 mount. I think the lens is from 1970ies.
Brenner sounds german but I think it is a japanese lens.
Do you have any idea if this lens is unique in its design or is it the same as other cheap 135mm lenses?
I did some tests with it yesterday and today (overcast weather) on my 5D and compared it with my Canon EF 100mm f/2.
To be short: Sharpness on the Brenner was not great but okish. On fullframe border sharpness was like centre sharpness at f/8 and on a crop camera full open.
The brenner lacked contrast and punch (could more or less "repair" this with LR) Colors were ok. At f/2.8 huge purple fringing at high contrast areas, at f/4 little purple fringer easily removed with LR. Bokeh was fine. I managed to let the lens flare with indoor light in my living room.
Well a mediocre lens at best.
Any tips on good 135mm lenses wich aren't 500 grams or more? With a sony nex the weight balance will be gone with heavy lenses
