I got a flash Braun BVC 370 with my Spotmatic. I wonder if I can use it on my Canon EOS 350D?

I'm new to flashes, so I find it hard to understand everything.

It depends of the max trigger voltage that your DSLR can take ...

Your flashgun seems to have about 21 volts (see here : www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html), not very safe, according to the site.

I won't use it as is Mattias.
If you're desperate on using that flash, you need only to build a simple adapter to isolate it from the camera. You can use this schematic: (If you need help, please ask):

Thanks for you answers, I forgot to post.

If you can explain further and it's easy maybe I'll give it a try, but I have to admit when I look at the scheme I haven't a clue on what that is Wink I'm not very handy. Maybe I should just clean out the battery acid and sell it... or use ti with the Spotmatic it came with.

I use Vivitar 285HV flash after 30 yrs still keep it's value , powerful flash and safe on DSLR. Be careful not all safe exactly 285HV number is important. Available at KEH.com around 80 USD.

Thanks, maybe something to look at in the future Smile

About the Braun and EOS: Some place say EOS 350D can handle up to 250V, other say Canon in general says max 6V.

I also found that there are things like this to protect the camera:

Ok, I'm starting to find pages on this now, I post them here if someone else needs it in the future...

Article that includes an unofficial list of voltage for Canon cameras:

Discussion on Photo.net:

Well well, I need to clean it from batteryacid anyway.
