Self-portrait (20ft cable release). Taken somewhere around f8, 1/50th. No sharpening. Sepia toning done digitally. I thought it worked well for the image.

Here is a crop without the toning:

Not bad, not bad at all.
't'would be nice to see some more contrast on your face and clothes; yer eye whites ought to be whitish, for example ...

Good self portrait.

I'm trying to work out where the cable release is?

Your title contains some of the nicest words in photography Laughing

that is a nicely made shot, though personally I'd back off a bit from the tone; although this is a nice hellhound-on-my-trail standing-in-the-crossroads sort of feel.

You set focus and then guessed how far that is to know where to stand?

It's under my foot. You can see the cable in this scene, along with the power lines I cloned out:

You're very right. I really wish I had a reflector with me. This was only the second roll with this camera so it was more of a test. I still have yet to find a proper hood.

Yes that's exactly right. Three boot steps toe-to-toe is about a meter so I work from there. The problem with that is the focus numbers jump from 4 to 8m. I was in between. So it became a little more of a guess.
