The lens has S/N: 17xxxx and looks similar with the one in the photos of the ad below:

Any opinions about its performance?

I've had a couple of Optomax lenses, still got a 300 / 5.5 which I would happily sell. None have been so bad that I would gladly give them away, but none have been so good I want to keep them.

The 135 might be very good, but the Optomax brand seems to very average at best.

Very average is not what I am looking for and this sounds as I should better stay away.

I would bet pretty good money that is a Tomioka. I had a similar lens labelled Focal. Agree with Lloydy, just so so. Many many good 135mm 2.8s out there don't waste your time on that one.
