Hello, it's my first post ever in a photographic forum, that should tell you how new I am to this Smile Just starting and having bought only a few manual lenses for my Canon 60d so far.

One of them which I like is a Chinon 28mm in Pentax K mount, labelled "Auto Chinon Multi Coated" in orange and green.

Now I want a 35mm lens and I see mostly M42 Chinon lenses and they are labelled just "Auto Chinon" in orange. They are different than the Pentax K 35mm lenses. This is the M42 one:

And here is the Pentax K one:

Different design obviously and different coating maybe too.

Does anyone have experience or information about both lines of Chinon lenses? Im I right asuming that the M42 were for their older cameras and the Pentax K ones for later model cameras and perhaps of better optical quality?

I already read a lot of people liking the Auto Chinon lenses but most often they don't mention which ones.

Welcome Smile

There is a big thread running about CHINON primes at the moment. That will probably answer your questions Smile
