I took a photo of Kings Cross and St Pancras stations in London in October which I was very happy with. Retook the same photo a few days ago under snowy conditions and thought it was just about perfectly the same. Turns out that I got the wrong focal length. The original was 24mm, the snowy 35mm.
If more snow comes then the photo will have to be retaken.

It looks close enough to me. I like the snowy scene.

I created a 'Time Machine' for a web site many years using Macromedia Flash. I started with many old photographs of famous landmarks in our town, then went to those locations and reshot them with an old Sony Mavica, the one with the floppy drive!

Then I had to overlay the photos in Photoshop and align them as close as possible, so when they were used in the software, they would 'fade' from one to the other seamlessly at the click of a button.

If back then, I'd had two source images as near as yours, my job would have been a cinch.

I think these two pics are great!
