Usually I buy from HK 1-2 USD each in batch and in perfect quality.

Just buy elsewhere. I usually pay 1-2 gbp for a 49mm front cap.

That was like a camera store here wanting $20 for a step down ring. I got it in HK from the bay for $3 with free shipping. I'm sure this camera store gets them for the same price or cheaper. Big mark up on this "small" stuff.

I bought one off this guy for a pound. http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/blossom201102/?_trksid=p4340.l2559

It is the same quality as the Nikon centre pinch caps. If it weren't for the lack of the logo ... probably the same factory producing them.

If I need one I go to my dear dealer and ask for one. He has hundred of them into the drawer. And so I get it for free with a friendly "Thank you very much".

A very good relationship can be worth a lot of money. Last week I got 4 x 52mm filters (used of course but in condition like new) for few of my Nikon lenses also for nothing.
