Here's my new NEX with my favorite lens, the Minolta 28 f/2 MD

I think it's smaller than the Rokkor version, but I don't know how they compare optically... but this lens is VERY sharp wide open and stunning stoped down...

Do you have a photo of the lens on the nex?

I wish the adapter was smaller...

Watta beauty !!! But not a low cost lens ,these days ...sorry for the slight offtopic , but I couldn't resist ... I chased this 28/2 some time ,but allways not in my budget Smile
Coming back , I had the impression that the f3.5 wasn't so different in size than the 2.8 I didn't know that there are two f3.5 MD versions ...probably the 49 size is the latest as my f2.8 is .

Hi Carsten!

No problem at all, it was really just funny to see!

My version is smaller, yes.

By the way, as this thread is called "and another rokkor": my MD 24mm F2,8 has arrived Surprised I´m very curious what results it will bring.

Wow, the 24mm MD is a fantastic lens, too bad the lens was stolen on my trip to Buenos Aires. I have the MC version and the MD is sharper, btw, I made a comparison of the two!

I'm trying to sell my 24mm MC and buy the MD, but it's very hard to find...

I'd love to have either version of the 24mm, I just can't afford it now. The lens was also sold as the Leica 24 2.8 Elmarit R. A great lens in any version. Very Happy

Carsten,
I think all Minolta 49mm lenses were marked 49mm on the nameplate ring. Of course that only helps if the seller has a picture of the front of the lens in his listing.

I have the Hexanon 3.5/28 and I use it a lot on my NEX for my landscape work, really like it, very sharp indeed, it's about the same size as Carsten's Rokkor but older, all-metal, feels very well built. It suffers from some flare due to the single coating but I usually use it with a Hoya HMC CPL filter and a deep hood which eliminates some of the flare. Out of all the 28mm lenses I own and I have quite a few, I rate it the highest, seems to be the sharpest although my Canon FD 28 runs it close.

Benedikt, where are you? I sent you the money early on Monday morning and my PM with my post address is still in my outbox.

Nice! is it the newer smaller one or the older one?

Do you have a picture of your nex and the lens attached?

I'm really considering this lens until I can't afford rangefinder lenses.

Benedikt is not here often, but in this case he should check regularly.

He posted here about his 24mm last night but nothing about my payment.

Almost... If the story wasn't to Peter's disadvantage, I wouldn't stop laughing at myself. The silly thing is, the lens indeed had been sold over the other forum, and I completely forgot to take it off my list, so I sold it again to Peter and spent my evening looking for it...

Too much work => where is my mind?

I am now sending back his payment.

It's the older one, all-metal. I will take a pic of the NEX with the lens attached and post it for you to see.

This 3.5/28 is pretty common on ebay, expect to pay 30-40ukp, there is one listed at just under 30ukp BIN atm, I think it's the newer version.

I haven't received the refund yet Benedikt, Paypal are withholding it. Is there a problem with your account?

Just a footnote with a happy ending to this thread. Paypal did finally release the money to me, but only after 7 days. Why do they do that???

And tonight I won another W.Rokkor 3.5/28 for just £14.99! Smile

It's the last MC version, 55mm filter. Basically it's the same lens as yours Carsten except you have the extra notch on the aperture ring to use it in P mode on the X-700 and S mode on the XD7. That doesn't bother me, I hardly ever use those modes anyway, and they're meaningless on a NEX! Wink

Peter, if you like we can swap. I don't shoot with Minolta cams and if you'd like to have that notch...
Let me know...

Carsten, that is very kind of you indeed! Let me first receive the lens and check it over and we will discuss it again. I couldn't agree to this until I know my lens is in equally good condition to yours.
