An odd pairing

This auction, which I won, included an odd pairing of lenses, at least in my view:

I actually contacted the seller, a small camera shop in GA, requesting to buy the 105 separately. The shop never responded, I wanted the 105, so I was forced to bid both lenses and pay for shipping on the heavy, unwanted, Spiratone YS zoom.

OK so both lenses have arrived and they are as described and I'm quite happy with the 105. Now let me say: I don't shoot Nikon.

So after receiving the lenses I noticed the common element was the two adapters, both Nikon, one a T4 and the other a YS. Both adapters are in good shape and most likely have some value. I view (rightly or wrongly) Nikon adapters for vintage MF lenses as being second in value only to m42 adapters.

Anyway, as I said an odd pairing, save for the fact both lenses fit onto a Nikon camera body thanks to the two adapters.

Incidentally, while it's nearly a throwaway, that Spiratone zoom lens is in decent shape and it's not one I have already. Gosh Spiratone sold nice lenses! I wonder what company made that lens for Spiratone?

Fred Spira, what an interesting man, I think Fred had such a love of all things photographic that he probably strived for good quality and good prices. It was certainly budget stuff, but I suspect he bought wisely.
