Sadly that's what drew my eye.. the simply huge people in many of the shots, who so often contrast with the overly thin (usually teenage girls..)
Obesity seems to be the new smoking - likely to contribute to this generation being a lot shorter-lived than the former?
I've lived in both Colorado and Portland v Detroit and Dallas and the contrast is amazing...
What is even more amazing is the 'reason' so often given, that it is 'genetic' or 'glandular' when I don't see any great difference between either the genes or the glands of while Alabama / Dallas residents and those from Colorado or Portland?
Hmmm
What is interesting is that much cheap / junk food which gets eaten in greater proportion by people on limited incomes, has High Fructose Corn Syrup in it, and the graphs for obesity and the use of this stuff seem to match very closely?

Doug,
Too many obese people eat way too often at the local fast food restaurants whichever they may be....That coupled with not enough physical activity are the main causes. I remember living back up North that the people that came from the rural areas of the state, tended to be bigger overall than those from the more urban areas. I always attributed it to "country cooking" more so than high fructose corn syrup _________________ Cameras-Nikon D300, D7100,D610,FE2,FTN ,FT2,N90s, Olympus Pen EP-3 & Olympus OM-D E-M10

Portions are HUGE in most franchise restaurants here; and you know the calorie counts for fast-food places. My theory is that the burgeoning of two-income families led to much of this. There is little time for either parent to plan and cook meals. So what you get is cafe or fast food, with salty and sweet snacks for breakfast and for treats at home at night. It is a weighty combination, largely confined to rural areas and inner-cities ... _________________ Paul
