When did a common tessar ever become this desirable?

Marketing. Alas ebay has become responsible for a lot of people parting with a lot of money for things that just ain't worth the price. Couple that with the world being full of incredibly stupid people, and this is the result. Let's face it, the Tessar is a perfectly good lens, but it ain't what you'd call spectacular.
Right, better get my marketing head on and see if I can talk this Industar 50 rare original Alumium body, really rare, did I mention it's rare? Better than a tessar and more rare. It's so rare, it's rarer than a Tessar, and the picture quality is so good, it's rarely seen. Did I mention how rare it is? And I am a keen amateur photogcrapper, so i really know what I'm talking about - that alone is rare. Buy it now for the very rare price of only one-hundred-and-ninedy-nine-ninedy-ninedy-ninedy-nine... don't be square, be rare! Don't forget, this is the really rare aluminium one that's better than a Tessar and only shipped on 15 million Zenits, this sucker is rare.......

Newbies have to learn the hard way, I guess.
Or the high bidder is a friend of the seller just there to artificially raise the bidding amount. |

a tessar equivalent of 28mm is great and the 1/1000s is nice for bright sun
however this tessar will cost about 500 euros!
