Well it's easier to ask, but i am too eager to wait for answer so i've put M42 mount off the Pentacon and hold lens near my NIKON EM. I had no tilt/shift problems since i could lean base of the mount to the camera. Eureka: NO MIRROR HIT AT INFINITY ! |

Interesting. I have couple of these lenses and wonder if they could be adapted. It would add about 0,5mm from lens mount to the base of the pentacon with a conversion. Do you think you'd still get infinity focus? |

Yes! And there is exactly around 0.5mm space left to add adapter after you fully adjust focusing helicoid. It could give you even more space but aperture mechanism blocks turning and it would have to be rearranged. Definitely worth a try, Pentacon would look and work darn nice on Nikon IMHO. |

give it a go Monday! |
Tried and knocked that idea on the head. I have 2 Pentacon 50mm's both different, until you pull the lens mount off. Now way you can adapt these without using precise machine parts. The aperture mechanism is built in to the mount and it's a bugger to get the lenses back together.
You appear to get infinity focus with the lens jammed up to the camera. With that in mind I sawed the bayonet off a reverse adapter and filed out the middle until it slipped (tightly) over the 42mm thread of the lens. Putting that combination on the camera gave a nice distance but not quite infinity.
I had a look inside a carl zeiss jena S1:35 f=135. Again the aperture mechanism is complicated and plasticky. The aperture's jammed on my copy. Anyway put together again I fitted the bayonet onto my Nikon and gave it a blast.
I'd happily buy an adapter with a threaded inside. 30m is the limit but better than 3 or 4 with a normal adapter.
There's a useable working distance I think but there are some terrible colour fringing issues with the CZJ 135.

second photo view from my kitchen window this morning. You can see the lens focuses on the distant chimney. wide open @f3.5

Altogether an interesting excecise. I may give the Zeiss another go at repairing the aperture. If its successful I'll glue the adapter on and dremel a small hole where the Nikon locking pin goes. |
