JohnBee, martyn_bannister,pich900,ManualFocus-G ,LucisPictor& NikonD-

Thank you very much for your nice comments- I had an older adaptall 2 to Fuji screwmount adapter that I felt like wobbled a little.I was trying this lens with an Adaptall 2 to Sony from Ebayer "Jinfinance"- His adaptall 2 seems to be sturdy and fits on the Sony camera very well. I paid $18 and free shipping-the adapter arrived very fast.

This is indeed a good lens looking at the samples. I am still after the perfect portrait lens, so I'll be watching for this one.

I like the last one. It shows a good separation from the busy background.

Thank you. I hope you find your copy- its a rare bird and only so many were made.

I've read so much about this lens being of very high optical qualities, and that only 3000 were ever made. How much would one of these go for?

I think they could go upwards of $350. I am sure factors like shape/condition would make a difference. If someone wants it very bad -they may pay more. I have seen it go in the $700 range. I am sure there are more savy lens-market watchers here than me .Attila will know for sure.

I sold my SP 180/2.5 on ebay earlier this week.
I put it up for $0.01 and let the bidders do their work...

It ended up going for $577 so I guess the price these days are around there somewhere. A bit higher if you go for the BIN auctions I guess...

Click here to see on Ebay

Yep, my lens. Smile
And I ain't gonna miss it. Sure it's a nice lens, but I wasn't using it.
If I need something around that FL I use my APO Lanthar 180/4 instead, wich is a lot smaller. I never brought the SP180 with me, but I always bring the APO Lanthar with me.

I've also had another copy earlier witch I traded in at a local camera store.

Oh, and for a period I had the SP180/2.5, SP300/2.8 and the SP400/4 next to each other in the shelf. They are really looking nice toghether...
But since I sold the SP300/2.8 there was no point keeping only the SP180 in the shelf if I wasn't gonna use it...

Wow, impressive line up of Tamron SP lenses there! If I can't afford this SP, I can't afford the Lanthar. What's the going rate on that thing? Wink Wink
