A question. How good are Mamiya/Sekor lenses?

I just won a Sears Sekor SX 55mm 1.4 which should be similar (if not same as) to the Mamiya Sekor SX. I am hopping it will attach to my Pentax k-x DSLR with an M42 adapter without any modification. I will keep posted once I get it.

Big Dawg,

Yashinon-(I'm not certain who makes it for them )also has several Auto-Yashinon 50mm (f1.4 DX,plus some other apertures) Their older "J" cameras also carry the 50mm -chrome nose and body-these are supposed to be good-which may be up your alley. They pop up on ebay frequently.

Here's what it looks like-

The black ring is a filter in the second image.
.

I got rid of it as part of a "downsizing" move last year-which I regret, but not for long because I replaced it with the all black Auto Yashinon DSM 50mm f1.4.

Yashinon is Yashica's name for their lenses, like Nikkor from Nikon or Takumar from Pentax.

Back on topic I have a chrome-nose AUTO Mamiya-Sekor 55m f/1.8, great lens if you find a good deal on one.

The question was not about the label but about the real manufacturer of this lens. Even Nikon had some lenses produced by third party manufacturers but labeled Nikon.
This specific lens like many others was made for Yashica by Tomioka.

I understand that, but he referred to Yashinon as an entity, as the "them" in (I'm not sure who makes it for them). I bet he just meant Yashica.
