Well, Prakticar 300/4 can be had for a decent price on eBay. Mine cost about 160 euros + P&P and in perfect condition.
Isn't that Tamron f/5.6? I really like f/4 - good balance between manageable size and fast speed.
Anyhow, IQ of the Prakticar is great - the best of all the long CZJ-lenses I've used (ie. better than 180/2.8, 200/2.8, and the medium format 300's). Though, I've only got a crop camera, so don't know about full frame corner quality, but rarely are they relevant with a long tele. In addition the lens has the built-in lens hood which is very nice.
On the other hand, I've never tried the Tamron. Might be a good lens. But it is not East German...
(East Germany reminds me of what I did today - I managed to basicly throw my CZJ 20/2.8 Flektogon down to the street, hard! Result: no damage what so ever.) |
