Wow, was not expecting this many replies! Thanks for the info guys.

I guess my hope of getting a cheap-ish 85mm is crushed. Been spoiled with the other cheap m42 lenses I guess.

Probably going for Jupiter or the Canon AF I guess, unless I catch a good deal or garage sale.

I'm speaking about lenses that I tried.

Helios 85 1.5 (MC)
- unique bokeh , nice color rendering, very soft at 1.5. This lens is heavy (almost 1 kg) . From my side this lens CAN'T be the first 85 to buy. It's a special lens to use in special occasion

Nikon 85 1.4 ais.
- this lens in bad barrel condition may be you can find with your budget (but you should be quite lucky). Great lens, fantastic for the correction at close distance, neutral color redemption. Good bokeh . Size not small but acceptable I think

Canon 85 1.8 AF.
- a very sharp lens , fast autofocus, great size. My concern is about the CA that are horrible is some occasion. But for 250-300$ is a great lens. This should be the first lens in a not expensive set.

At the end you have to consider if you want a great bokeh or a sharp lens . I don't know the elmarit 90 and contax 85 2.8 but I think they should be not fantastic in terms of bokeh
