I use my 200mm F4 with a reversed 105mm short focus (bellows) lens for 2X macro. Nikon

The short focus lens allows enough working distance to use a ring flash.

That 105mm certainly makes a wonderful diopter!
Congrats, very well done!

Amazing!
Which 200/4 Nikkor did you use for the particular pics, the Micro or the "normal" version?

Just the normal 200m f4. I use a Nikon K-3 ring on the back of the reversed lens to protect the lens and give me filter threads. Then I glued 2 broken filters together to make a female/female adapter so I could mount the ring flash.

This is the setup I use with either a Novoflex 105mm or the Nikkor 105mm. Novoflex is physically smaller and lighter (lens hood of the 200mm fits over the novoflex lens) but I THINK the Nikkor is sharper. Both work fine.

Lace wing larva shot with same setup. Larvae is at the left facing down. As it catches insects to eat it attaches their drained exoskeletons to it's body for camouflage.
