Good evening,
four weeks ago my new lens arrived at my place. Enough time to test the lens performance at the EOS50D camera. More information about the lens you can find at http://www.butkus.org/chinon/yashica/yashica_medical_100_dx/yashica_medical_100_dx.htm
In a few days I will write a complete review in German language.

Hi, I got one of these medical lenses for the price of postage—but it's missing the original battery pack and controller. I disassembled to lens to figure out how it works, and I've now devised my own battery pack and PC-sync connection for it. However, based on the manual I'm now missing the ASA sensitivity control that apparently should be on the battery pack… Does yours have it? Does it change the flash output power?

And, the techie part; do you have a multimeter, and if so, could you measure the voltages from the power connector and whether or not turning the ASA control on the battery pack changes them? =)

Yes, the flash output power is changeable with the battery-packs controller.

but no warranty for the results I'm a chemist^^^

Yes, the voltage change while configure the ASA-control.



At ASA-100 (L) the multimeter shows 7.85V between the marked pins.
AT ASA-50 (L) the multimeter shows 7.92V between the marked pins.
AT ASA-400 (L) the multimeter shows 7.59V between the marked pins.

But, there is a 3rd pin, and I got no idea what´s up with this one.

Thank you so much for these, especially the picture of the original battery pack was very nice. =)

What about the third pin, by the way, does it not measure any voltage at all? If think it should show some voltage if you measure between the lowest pin (bottom one in the diagram), very strange if it does not.

In any case I think I'll just put the output of 4×AA battery straight to both pins and not try to implement the ASA selector or match the full original voltage. (According to the manual the original uses 12×AA battery! I'm not sure I even have that many rechargeables available at once… =)

Hi, I'm recent user of yashica medical on a nikon d3200. I've read in a other web site that is imperative to use a Wein Safe Sync cause the voltage of the strobe can fry the câmera electronics. Do you use this accesory?
