This is a surprisingly good lens - relatively cheap. Was a favourite here a while ago

Reviving this thread as I have recently started using the Volna 9 on my E-PL2. These are all stopped down to f/5.6 if I remember well.

It's from the woods around my neighborhood - they usually stay in tall grass, but when it's sunny they come out to enjoy the warmth. Because I never saw any warning about them and also because they seem pretty shy and don't display any signs of aggressiveness, I deemed it safe to get closer for this shot. I'm glad it didn't get scared and I had enough time to find a good angle. A second one also appeared but before I could figure out how to get them both, I did some sudden move and they disappeared in the grass.

Wonderful set of shots! If that had been me, the snake would have had me knocking myself out running into trees. Nothing with a facial expression like that can be considered "not dangerous".

It can always bite, not a pleasure but no big deal when the snake is not venomous.
Very nice picture but not important enough to have to race to the hospital for it IMO.

Beautiful photos, the snake photo was a treat, indeed.

I found out that it is a Garter snake. Looks like perhaps a Butler's Garter.
