Voigtlander SL I & II Lenses
As the weather has been too awful recently to go outside much, I took the time to shoot some pictures of my Voigtlander SL I & II lenses instead:
Voigtlander SL I & II Lenses by Mike Woolley
SL I lenses at the bottom (M42 mount), from L to R:
40mm f/2 (with straight hood)
90mm f/3.5
125mm f/2.5 Macro
180mm f/4
75mm f/2.5
SL II lenses at the top (Ai-S mount), from L to R:
20mm f/3.5 (style 2)
28mm f/2.8 (style 3)
90mm f/3.5 (style 1)
58mm f/1.4 (style 1)
40mm f/2 (style 2)
These incidently illustrate 3 of the 4 body styles Cosina Voigtlander have used for the SL II lenses. |

Seems like we're brothers in being Voigtländer fanatics
I somehow cannot resist the love for the SL series. However, needing I wide-angle, my kit now consists of
Voigtländer SL II N 28mm 2.8 Color Skopar (with LH-28 dome hood)
Voigtländer SL 40mm 2.0 Ultron (with 2x boxed LH-40Ds and 1x boxed LH-40S)
Voigtländer SL 75mm 2.5 Color Heliar (still searching for LH-75 or LH-75S)
Voigtländer SL 180mm 4.0 APO Lanthar (still searching for LH-75 or LH-75S)
While I had the 125 macro as well, I have to say, it is exceptional. However, I do not do serious macro
and the charm of these lenses above is that they're really small and light, which the 125 simply isn't.
So for me, these 4 are the perfect set. (Even though I'd also love to find the SL 90mm 3.5 - first series)
Then it's a matter of topic, photographing people will be the advantage of the 75, while at far distances,
nature, it's the 90.
We need a topic for SL series fans, so why not use this one |

I know what you mean 😊

I sympathise - the SL I hoods were hard to find (& expensive) even when the lenses were still being made.

The 90 is my favourite, as I said in another thread. if I were you though I would get the SLII version - it's smaller, has a more practical hood, a closeup attachment and a CPU (so you get EXIF data).

Indeed, I look forward to it! |
