Wow, that is some great color rendition! Does it perform well wide open?

Those images certainly are wonderful vibrant colors, and what a delicate fingerprint and bokeh.

Would this lens work on a Canon 5D without any mirror hangup issues?

PostPosted: Fri Jan 20, 2012 11:06 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Well, on my 5DII it locks the mirror a little before the infinity mark.
Honestly, i don't know if the 5D mirror will have the same issue ...

If it hits the MkII, it will likely hit my MkI. I wouldn't like to start savaging the rear mount or my mirror.

I also own a copy (Rollei mount version). It's very sharp especially stopped down a little and it produces an beautyful Planar bokeh. But my copy shows annoying visible blue CAs (only) wide open - but the lens looks like it was opened once (maybe for cleaning) etc. and I guess it there might be something slightly decentered in it. Also Infinity is at about 3m on the scale on the lens and it does not focus as close as it should. But that might be an adapter problem.
Do you have a shot wide open for me which shows some CAs for comparision?

Well, this may be easily verified with a "known-to-be-good" M42 lens ...

Honestly, cannot remember ... I have to check my DVD archives, and this would take a bit of time ...
Will try to post something during next week-end. Or, i will take a picture trying to exhibit some CA ...
