First impression on film is that it is a very good lens..close up shots at f2 are good, but using it wide open and flare can be a problem which I found out in this scene....h'mm but does give a dreamy look and you can tell by the cyclist that the shots were taken at f2 and f5.6 within seconds.
Tests done on old Lloyds film (made in the EU) and the scan operator at the supermarket must have had a problem with the film in that it it had a massive yellow cast, too contrasty and too vibrant....so had to adjust in PS and didn't add any sharpening.

hey !!! great shots!!!

Thanks...some more shots to show this is a sharp lens but is a problem in sunny weather when used wide open (full frame on film).

Vivitar 24mm f2 wide open...Don't know what's going on here but it looks like sun reflecting off the red frame caused a flare

I found my Vivitar 2/28 have good resolution even on full open but the contrast is relatively low. You 2/24 have similar performance with the 2/28. I found them suits digital very well as we can easily adjust contrast in PP.

You're lucky as my Vivitar (Kiron) 28mm f2 wide open is not very sharp, and stopped down would class it as "sharp" but not "razor sharp".

I kinda liked this lens but it's not sharp at all I have started to find it unusable Sad

I have the 24/2 (Kiron) and 28/2 (Komine). The 24/2 yields similar results as yours, with relatively low contrast and quite soft wide open. The 28/2 for me has similar results as well but because of the close focus capability I find myself use it more often than the 24/2.

The 2/28 Kiron has mixed feedbacks on the web. There may copy variation on this lens, who knows. I found the test on modern photography on both 24 and 28. They should get a decent enough copy for testing.

Interesting results as my lenses give reverse results at f2 i.e. the 24mm is better than the 28mm....but agree stopped down the 24mm lens is better overall......well it should be as I assume it was more expensive to buy at the time. Wink

Wide open only to shorter distances, even top lenses will not perform well wide open at long distance.

I agree with Attila, wide open and distance is too hard for almost all lenses. Only one I have found that can make a sharp image at distance is the Sonnar 1.5/50, and even that can only do it upto about 100m.

I had the Kiron 2/35 and it was like this 2/24 wide open, but closed a couple of stops it was very good.

Well I'm like you and Attila as I rarely use a lens wide open....but many people seem to be interested in how a lens performs at max aperture. But my problem with this lens is:- I can't properly use it as it's OM mount and I'm not an Olympus fan and only own a crappy OM20 with a 50mm and a couple of non Zuiko lenses Crying or Very sad So it's my Sigma 24mm with Canon mount for my holiday in Ibiza.

Thanks....the film has to take the credit as this better quality of Ferrania film (that you can't buy) gave some lovely results from other lenses and some guys have said "it would be difficult to reproduce with a digital camera"
