I've been trying for a Bird in Flight (BIF) for quite a while. Its not a bit easy.

I got luckier than usual today, so far these are the best I have managed - these with that cheap Focal 200/4.5, but I'm sure any other would have been as (in)effective.

I set aperture to f/8 (so the focus confirm still works) and try to follow focus. Maybe that Novoflex rig might work here.







Yes, this last would have been OK except for the framing. Its hard enough to get the focus more-or-less on, the framing will have to take care of itself. Maybe I should crop.

All three of them are great captures knowing well how hard it is to catch them!
My absolute favourite is #2

#3 would be a great shot Smile it's a pity it's a bit out of the frame.

better crop, dslr have enough latitude
next time you try #3, bring some fresh fish to make new friends
