Ideally filled with a hot chocolate, but a good Earl Grey tea will also do nicely.

(confession: I don't actually have on of these lens-mugs)

Just in case this wasn't a tongue-in-cheek question:

My Minolta AUTO TELE-ROKKOR PF 100mm f/2 gets used more during autumn, on 12MP FF. It is no perfect optic by any standard and neither are the resulting images, but it is just a nice lens to shoot with when the leaves start to turn. Don't ask me why; I can't explain.

Funny you’re also thinking about a tele.
I don’t have particularly many pictures with an autumn theme, but of the ones I made I particularly liked 85mm (Sony FE 85/1.8 to be more precise). More because of the ability to make good compositions than anything else. Not for dense forest, but for open spaces in parks. I think the Vivitar Series One 90/2.5 macro could be pretty interesting; nice combination of sharpness and vintage colors/ flares.

not bad that mug

it just has to be filled with the right stuff

the September lens

well the last time i did it was few years back unfortunately. I will try to do it this year.
as i remember, the lens that gave me that (Ektar-ish) autumn feel was Industar 50, on a 16m aps-c.
it's bit too long for my liking but that how it is on aps.

tried a range of 28 - 50mm japanese / german but nothing i would like it.
the colors are not right and if i dont get the feel on the picture sooc, i will not pp it.
BW is easier for that case, at least to me.

used mir-1 too, but cant remember anything except that i has not really happy.

industar 69 could be sometimes a fun as i used quite a lot, but that is an other piece of cake. prefer it in urban surrounding.

have to admit, got the idea from the praktica 50/2.4 lens post and images from the woods that i like ..

So - September lens - I have finally figured out that you are referring to autumn colour.
Those of us that live in the southern hemisphere are facing springtime - so your meaning was not immediately apparent.
Anyway from my experience, many of the Takumars and Super-Takumars give a lovely warm feeling, and are great lenses as well.
The Yashinons are generally warm, and I like the Meyer Lydith and Primoplan for their rendering as well.
A really beautiful "painterly" lens is the Petri CC Auto 55mm f1.4
Hope these help
Tom

If getting in close is your thing, with a classic rendering:

O.C. Nikkor 35mm f2 wide open here.

If you can put up with the slightly blown reds, it's not bad.
Wide open again. Both images are without filter at ISO 64.

With D-810. There's no filtering over the 36 mp sensor.

What about this one?

(a Leitz Voort 9.5 cm enlarging lens)

or perhaps something like this?

(a Steinheil Oscillo-Quinon 75 mm f/1.9)

or rather this:

Front and center by simple.joy, on Flickr

Light rayn by simple.joy, on Flickr

(a Meyer Optik Domiron 50 mm f/2)

All of those lenses were used on full-frame.

For fall colors you certainly don't need the sharpest lens so it might be worth it to experiment with unsual lenses.

If you want to go for fall texture instead though... there are other options of course! 😉

Some beautiful rendering in these images.
Nicely done.
Our autumnal colour is in March/April, and currently it is so dry that spring is looking very sad indeed.
Here are some from past autumns:

That would be the October lens for me because September over here is still green. It's only half way October leaves start to turn. Seems to be getting later every year.

Well, for example at the south shore of Laptev Sea the season of September might be much less cheerful even today

Thanks for the laugh!

That was more or less a fair approximation of better than 40 years ago at Bronica SQ-A times. I was supposedly a student, but spent far more time on the girls and cameras than class. It's a wonder 3rd year was even completed. Wink Wink Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Not too crowded even today, I will completely agree with you.

However some folk lives even in the Norway and Iceland, don't they?

But I also rather would prefer the northern shores of any other see for my habitation.

For example - the northern shores of the Mexican Gulf

Well, when we are too youthful we are really happy to use our equipment (I mean the photo equipment of course) to entertain the girls. But later we rather prefer to amuse exclusively ourselves by it.
