Love the colors! Is the Practicar 50 mm f/1.4 a Pancolar?

Lots of great shots here!

I must admit to heresy. In September I have shot the most with a Canon EF 16-35mm f4 adapted to Sony a7.

It's a bit of a struggle to get the focus perfect for some reason but it can really deliver sharp landscapes.

I have a Sigma MC-11 adapter but it lacks the functionality to stop down the aperture before the shot so I had to get a Metabones adapter.

That's what I shot this September. Our September is not very pronounced autumn .

Thank you - yes it renders beautifully.
No, it isn't a Pancolar, which is a 55mm - that is on my wish list, but the prices are prohibitive.
Yet the rendering bears resemblances to that of the Pancolar sometimes.
There are two versions of the Prakticar 50mm f1.4. I have the first variation which is said to be closest to Pancolar.
Another lens which is very close to the Pancolar in its design is the Petri CC Auto 55mm f1.4. It has a beautiful "painterly" rendering which I like very much, and it can still be found relatively cheaply

Petri CC Auto 55mm f1.4
Poor man's Pancolar (sort of)
I love the way that this lens "paints" its out of focus areas

I like number 2 above this Tom.
Very well done!

Very heavy overcast here today. I got no further than the backyard.

Nikkor 50mm f1.4 wide open. Bit of glow to the leaf tips near image center. I *think* I may have fogged the big front element with my breath. Nikon L-37-C filter.

Same subject with Tamron 28mm f2.5 at f2.8. Bokeh is a little less chatterly here.

Tamron 28mmf2.5 again at f2.8

Tamron 28mmf2.5 wide open. This is an aster that has lost it's first set of petals.

Center crop of image above shows new petals in the budding stage. They will probably start to open with a bit of sunshine- perhaps by Sunday, or Monday.

From a long term favorite of mine. 50mm Nikkor f2 A/I version of the "K". I actually dug this one out in regards to another discussion here.

Wide open at f2 on the D-810 and MFD.

Same information as above. I'll try and get a center crop of this up later.

Edit:

Center crop of above image.

Same settings again. This is one of the most red tolerant lenses I have. I find it a bit odd that I've had it put up so long with it's I/Q.
I should keep it in regular rotation. Wink
