Here is the list of the approximate focus range of the adapter without using the focus ring of the lens.
15mm 6.5cm-inf
21mm 12cm-inf
24mm 15cm-inf

135mm 4.2m-inf

Some updates:

The open beta will starts very soon. (I think we will know more about how the adapters perform on different lenses within this month.)

The developer kpliang said he receive many suggestion on making a EOS mount version. So, it is possible we will see one later.

About the camera APP:

We can customize the operation of the adapter for each lens data saved in the adapter. If we don't need the AF function on certain lens, we can disable it on the APP.

There is opinion to choose where the adapter moves after taking a photo. It can be 1)stops after taking a photo, 2)moves to the infinity position and 3)move to the middle (between infinity(fully retracted) and the MFD position)

There is another news. It seems there is someone who are working on the cooperation of the developer of Mitakon liuwzen and kpliang . We may see there will be AF E mount lenses made by Mitakon in the future. Wink

I heard a news that a well-known adapter is working on E mount electrical adapters for Rolleiflex 6008, probably it will support AF on E mount camera too. Wink

It looks like the adapter will ship in late January for $349.
It's a bit expensive (compared with LA-EA 4), but not excessive.

In the original post, the developer said the adapter will shipped from March and he never mentioned about the price. It is only cost $349, it is not a bad price consider it is the first one on the market.

The testers has been received the adapter. The results are pretty promising for small lenses within 50mm(decently fast and very good accurately).

At this stage, the wide angles(21mm or below) does not works well on the adapter(also happen on the Contax G adapter with G21). Any lens slower than F5.6 may not work too due to the limit of the phase detection system.

Good to see the price is finalized. There will be Leica R and Contax/Yashica mount version later. The EOS mount version will follow after the LR/CY version.

Someone mention that focus peaking is clearer with the Kolarimod (removal of AA filter on A7), could this also have an effect on Techart AF adapter?

I think it may have slight impact on the focus speed. Anyway, it will works fine with or without the mod.

Yes. If F8 or slower is needed, set the aperture to F2.8 or F4 and focus before further stopping down the lens.

From my experience with my DIY AF adapter my conclusion is that it is not the low light level that first limits the AF accuracy with some lenses set to f/8 or more but mainly the large DOF makes it difficult to find the best focus. With the diaphragm opened they often can AF very well in low light but with it closed the camera often has problems to AF even in strong light.

Therefore the max. f-stop usable for AF depends, IMO, on the FL of the lens.

Some people has already get the adapters and it seems it works pretty decent. There are two limitations which worth mentioning:

1. The focus point on the edge on some camera does not works very well compare to the focus point on the center region (e.g. A7RII)

2. The uniform of thickness is not as good as the MF focus helicoid. It should not be a problem with normal or tele lens but will affect those ultra wides.

Quite impressive! Fact it does not perform very well under bad light conditinns does not bother me as it is usually better to go manual then. The nice thing, if there is a solution to use my Minolta MD lenses, is that you can use it when manual is going to cause you problems (such a wife's impatience,...) or when you are not too bothered with spending time doing reallya nice picture (some kind of event).
Will be looking forward to a model that would work

I received my adapter on Monday and have been doing some limited testing on my A7II. The focusing is accurate and pretty quick on moderate and abundant light, but it’s pretty slow (and sometimes non-working) on low light. The AF works on single-shot or continuous AF modes and smile/face detect also works. Even though some users have reported lockups, it hasn’t locked up on me yet. The focusing distance is 4.5mm so it will obviously work best with shorter focal lengths.

One thing to note is that some of the cheap LM adapters will NOT work with the techartpro without modification. (because of the front motor cover) I had to remove material from the Konica AR-LM adapter for it to fit and also had to modify the MAF-LM adapter. The Nikon F-LM adapter works fine without modification.

BTW, Yeenon made a set of adapter for this Techart adapter. They also work on Leica cameras with life-view too with support of 6-bit code.

In their projects, have they included some adapters where they could have more than the 4.5 mm they are limited to with Leica? Because if they could get up to a centimeter or more, that would be great even for small teles. Will probably wait until then to buy an A7 series x depending on the wait. Understand Minolta MD will not be top priority though...
