Just bought this Steinheil 135mm f2.8 Auto-D-Tele-Quinar in M42 mount. Looks very clean.

I'm very excited to shoot this as I've I've never owned one before.

Seller said: "The glass is spotless..no cleaning marks, very little internal dust. Almost looks new."

Should have the lens in a few days.
Do any of you own this one? I'll post some samples as soon as I get my hands on her!

gearncogs, thanks. The day I get it, I'll be shooting with it!

Rolf, thanks for those links. Very nice! Perhaps we have the same lens? I do not have a hood for it yet. Do you know the size?

Rino, yes! I am very excited! I always know that if you like it, it has to be very good indeed.

Atilla, yours certainly looks like a good one too.

Did I pay too much? $162 USD.

Hmmm, I paid 65,00 € ( = 90,00 $) incl. 3 pcs. original extention tubes as you can see on the first pic. Rolling Eyes

But this was last year amd maybe the prices increases. It is like Attila said before, done and enjoy it.

Congratz!

Looks to be in really good shape too!

I have been watching Steinheil lenses for a while and the only one I got cheap was the Culiminar 135 f4.5 silver lens Wink

If i remember well, i paid 120 euros for mine, with the original caps and hood (54mm diameter, not so easy to find), and lost another one at 130 euros without hood but with B+W UV and polarizing filters Evil or Very Mad ...

Anyway, enjoy one of the finest M42 lenses, it is really good at far as well as close focusing ... The pic below has been taken with a 12mm extension tube to shorten the minimum focusing distance. Feel free to browse to the full res picture and take a look at the reflections in the eye of the peacock Wink ...

+100%

That's one of the best 135mm lenses you can find! Congratulations!!

I have seen such lens at the Solms Camera Fair, the seller asked €180,- for it and it was not in the good condition that lens in those pictures seems to be in!

Thanks so much guys- you are making me more and more and more excited!

indianadinos, wow. So incredible! I really like the way the lens renders colour and bokeh. It seems very natural, like the human eye. Good to know that it is good at close distances too as I will be shooting flowers in the spring. I suppose my pentax extension tubes will work fine. Now to find a lens hood!

Call me Mr. Excited!

Is this the same lens with the "Steinheil München Macro Tele Quinar 1:2,8 / 135mm?" Seems the "Macro" selling much more expensive.

PostPosted: Mon Apr 16, 2018 2:58 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

They should be more or less than same design, except the macro version focus close down to 18".

PostPosted: Mon Apr 16, 2018 3:31 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

eBay now has the "Macro" selling over $1,000. And could not find much information about it.

The Vivitar 135 CF will be a better lens for a non-collector, price and weight wise, if close focusing is needed.
