Last year I bought the m42 CZJ Pancolar 80/1.8 lens with one year warranty.
Since last weekend my aperture blades won't open anymore. Probably due to oil.
Something I was afraid of, but didn't thought it was going to happen so soon.
I called the shop and ask if I could replace this lens with something else in his store because I lost confidence in this lens.
I get my money back and have to choose something else for it.
My budget is between 450 en 600 euros.
I have a lot of lenses already in different focal lenghts.
I just need something good and something I can sell afterwards for the same amount of money if needed.

Options are : 1) Leica Leitz Summicron-R 2/90 : 600 euros (condition excellent+ 90-96%)
2) C/Y Zeiss Planar 85.1.4 : 600 euros (condition excellent+ 90-96%)
3)
Leica Leitz Wetzlar Macro-Elmarit-R 2.8/60 300 euros (condition excellent 80-89#=%)
+
Leica Summicron-R 2/50 R-Only Boxed 350 euros (condition excellent+ mint 90-96%)

4) Leica Leitz Elmarit-R 2.8/90 ) 150 euros (condition bargain 70-79%)
+
Leica Leitz Wetzlar Macro-Elmarit-R 2.8/60 300 euros (condition excellent 80-89%)
5) Contax Planar 35/1.4 650 euros (EXCELLENT: 80-89%)
6) Leitz Summicron-M 2/35 made in Canada 600 euros (condition excellent 80-89%)

what wouldyou choose Smile

One word: the 80mm f/1.8 Pancolar is extremely easy to service, yes, even by us. I don't usually say that about lenses but the Pancolar is soooo easy to service.

Which shop is it? I'm interested if the price is right (and it must be as the diaphragm is currently not working). Wink

I payed 450 euros for it. In very good condition. A lot of money.
That's why I will probably buy the planar 85/1.4. Much better built quality.

Ah, I saw your post in which you stated that you drove to Rotterdam. I think I know the shop now (being a fellow Dutchman) Smile

I have several Pancolar what I hold from 5-6 yrs now none of them stopped, service it and will works in next 10 yrs for sure.
or sell it after service and buy Summicron 2/90 or planar 85, 30-40 yrs old lens stopped now , not a big deal.

My head explodes with these options Very Happy
So many great lenses Very Happy

I personally would take the Summicron-M 35/2 - you could easily resell it for much more I guess.

I've never heard of the 35/1.4 Planar - sounds also very very interesting.

Indeed , it is a planar.

Well, I decided to go with the Planar 85/1.4.
As much as I love the pancolar. I'm really not a handy man. If I touch something it gets broken.
I need a lens where I can rely on. But I gonna miss you Pancolar for sure Sad
