Last night I took my K-7 out along with my 77mm FA Limited, 50MM 1:1.4 SMC-M, and Tokina 400mm 1:6.3 to photograph the Morgan Territory Fire that's burning close, but not threateningly close, to my place. Here are a few results.

the silhouette of the trees is really quite beautiful, despite the terrifying nature of its light source

But it seems rather close, considering one of these was taken with a 50mm. Are you anywhere near the evacuation areas?

Thank you, guys.

As for me, I'm in the opposite direction of the fire's path. And the winds are blowing away from me. I live about six miles from the fire and took the photos from about 3 1/3 miles away. The first and third were with the 400mm and the middle was the 77mm, I think. I meant to post one from each lens but it was really late last night.

Here's one with the 50.

Edit: The second photo was with the 50mm and the fourth with the 77mm, I think.

Fascinating: Surprised I'm lucky we don't get this kind of fires where I live.
