First time posters can't embed images as an antispam measure, from now on you'll be fine.
I don't know anything about this lens but I expect someone more knowledgeable will speak up shortly. _________________ I welcome C&C, editing my pics and reposting them on the forum is fine.

Isn't that a barrel lens for medium format remounted into a Sonnar 4/135? _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

This lens has a Praktina mount, rare with this mount, but due no adapter for digital cameras fetch little interest. _________________ -------------------------------

Looks nicely done, body is from a 4/135 Sonnar.
I think this Tessar is a 'normal' lens for 9x12cm plate cameras.
Performance should be good as it's just using the central 'sweet spot' of the Tessar's image circle. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

No, that's just a common Tessar, they were very common in both barrel (like this one) or mounted in a Compur shutter for 9x12cm plate cameras or for 4x5" ones in the US.
If you tell us the serial number we can date it.
I am pretty sure the Tessar is a good deal older than the Sonnar lens body it has been mounted in. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

Hello lo3ll
You might find this link very interesting. Good history about your 135/4.5 Tessar and Jena lenses in general.
http://www.arnecroell.com/czj.pdf
According to the tables, in the document, your 135/4.5 Tessar had a production run of 11,016 and was manufactured between 1954-1957
There were 11,016 made as a barrel lens and 300 produced in a Compur1 shutter.
I just purchased myself an old Carl Zeiss Jena 135/6.3 barrel lens. You can see the thread here
http://forum.mflenses.com/carl-zeiss-jena-135-6-3-t56820.html
The most produced Tessar barrel lens, was the 180/4.5 at 18,512 units
The least produced, was the 300/3.5 at 305 units _________________ Happy Shooting!
