I bought this lens today, I think this is an enlarger lens , any experience ?
It has L39 mount.

I am sure that it will be mindblowing.
A guy I know had a Leica enlarger for medium format, some years ago. He was asking a fortune so I stayed away. I saw some prints made with it and they were really impressive.

Very sharp, but lacks contrast from my experience; your results prove that. Surely a very good lens, but not up to par with Focotars or the later Focotar II 100mm (which I find it to be and increadibly good lens in terms of resolution and contrast = acuity); unfortunately has gotten very expensive and hard to find nowadays.

In the excelent Attila's pics I don't see any lack of contrast.

The inverse way to my eyes.

I did alter pictures, contrast improved. Without altering lens produce typical contrast less output which is kind of normal on most lenses from these years when this lens was born. I am pretty happy to own this quite rare lens.

So, a mere decade later, I'll chime in here and say that I was very surprised at the wonderful rendering of this lens...

It may not be exceptionally sharp, but it's more than fine one stop down and due to the round aperture it still renders like a dream, at least up close.

Does anyone have an idea about the optical design of this one? I've read that it's an Elmar design, which would make most likely make it a 4-3 design... It's hard to judge, but from a look a the reflections I would have guessed a 5-3 design. I've read Leitz used such designs (for the Elmax) before the original Elmar design was born. I doubt that this lens is as old though, so probably I'm just misjudging the reflections.

Mine is labeled:

Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Voort 9.5 cm 1:4

It doesn't have a serial number as far as I can tell and is uncoated.

Pretty high chance it will be an elmar with 4e/3g. The SN of the lens is located on the retaining ring of the front element if there is one.

Nice rendering indeed!

Sharp and mild in the same frame. Well composed, as usual!

Thanks a lot to everyone! It may very well be a typical Elmar...

Apart from the wonderful rendering it also produces nice bubbles wide open:
