THREAD NAMING
The lenses in this gallery are usually presented this way:

Brand(Maker) LensName min.aperture/focallenght Camera Mount

Sometimes when an information is redundant (typical case, when brand and camera have the same name) one of the two might be omitted

Examples of typical naming:
Leitz Summicron-R 2/50 Leica R
Where Leitz is brand, Summicron-R is the name of the lens, 2 is the minimum aperture, 50 is the focal lenght, Leica is the camera and R is the mount.
Carl Zeiss Planar 1.4/50 Contax CY
Where Carl Zeiss is brand, Planar is the name of the lens, 1.4 is the minimum aperture, 50 is the focal lenght, Contax is the camera and CY is the mount.

HOW TO SEARCH FOR ALL THE LENSES OF A BRAND
1) click on Search link in the main forum menu
2) put the name of the brand in the Keyword field (example: Carl Zeiss)
3) leave Author field blank
4) select 'Best of Lenses' Gallery in the Forum drop-down menu
5) leave the Category drop-down menu unselected and do not change the other options
6) Perform search by clicking on the Search button
The search will return a page with all the lenses made by the entered brand (in our example, all the lenses branded Carl Zeiss)

HOW TO SEARCH FOR SOME SELECTED LENSES OF A BRAND
1) click on Search link in the main forum menu
2) in the Keyword field, put the name of the brand (example: Carl Zeiss) and the name of the lens (example: Distagon)
3) leave Author field blank
4) select 'Best of Lenses' Gallery in the Forum drop-down menu
5) leave the Category drop-down menu unselected and do not change the other options
6) Perform search by clicking on the Search button
The search will return a page with all the lenses made by the entered brand which are named as the entered name (in our example, all the lenses branded Carl Zeiss which are named Distagon); it will not return the Carl Zeiss lenses named differently

HOW TO SEARCH FOR ONE SPECIFIC LENS
1) click on Search link in the main forum menu
2) in the Keyword field, put the name of the lens and the aperture/focallenght numerical values (example: Distagon 1.4/35); you may also enter the brand name if you like, but it's not indispensable
3) leave Author field blank
4) select 'Best of Lenses' Gallery in the Forum drop-down menu
5) leave the Category drop-down menu unselected and do not change the other options
6) Perform search by clicking on the Search button
The search will (hopefully) return a page with only one entry, which is the thread that corresponds to the selected lens; it will not show entries that share the lens name but with different aperture/FL values, it will not show entries that share the same aperture /FL values but with a different lens name.
