The V Primoplan 1.9/75mm is a very, very rare lens, build only for 3 Years in 1952-1955.. so only very few copies are made during this time. It was the competitor against CZJ 1.5/75 Biotar during this time..

Mine is the M42 mount version
Its a typical Primoplan 5/4 design..

Cheers
Henry

hinnerker: Congratulations! Welcome to the club Wink Very nice photos showing the power of Primoplan design. The bokeh is simply stunning. It has a bit of sonnar a bit of ernostar and a bit more of the ancient double-anastigmat lenses Smile

Thanks to all..

Yes, the Primoplan has a really great bokeh. A bit of Biotar swirl on one hand, a bit of creamy Rokkor Bokeh on the other hand.

IMHO the lens isnt as sharp as the Biotar at open aperture, but does have nearly the same "swirl" as the Biotar with the difference of longer holding the "Swirl" if you stop down the lens to lets say f2.8 or f4.

There are no nice "catseyes" in the bokeh like the Biotar do have. But the lens delivers a unique bokeh, creamy and a bit like a painter would paint.

Hard to descibe.. the lens produce a great 3D effect

2 Crops, showing f1.9 and f2.8 side by side

Yes, i would say, this statement perfectly described the lens..

How the Primoplan handle the highlights, compaired to the CZJ Biotar 1.5/75mm ..

From time to time i will show some pictures compairing both lenses, which are build in the 50th..

Cheers

Thank you for the comparison, I do really like the Primoplan OOF rendering much more!

Do you have Pancolar 80 too? It would be interesting to add it to comparison.
