Here are some shots from the National Theatre, London, taken on Saturday. It was a blazing hot day with not a cloud in the sky.

Wide shots with Zuiko 24mm, and telephoto with Nikon 105mm f2.5...

Love to hear thoughts as usual.

Thanks!!
Simon

The first shot is easily my favourite of the set, great work.

Very impressive set, Simon. My faves are the first and last, very strong
images! I also like the comp in #4. Who is the architect of this structure?

Bill

ps it appears the android has rusted tight from the rain. Probably should be taken down before it falls on somebody. Laughing That is some bodacious
cantilevering going on, reminiscent of FLW.

Some great captures, Simon!

Thanks a lot for the kind words Orio and Super Tak!!

Bill,

It is by Dennis Lasdun, a British architect. I think it was completed in the 1960's.

For sure you can see the Wright influence in the cantilevers, although I had not thought of it before you said so.

Brutalism, I love it. But I know I am in a minority!!

I'm not in Prince Charles's camp, who hates this building. I like the shapes and layout etc, but the dirty bare concrete finish, with all its rust and other stains, well it is SO depressing! If Brutalism = bare concrete, count me out.

Great shots Simon. I like the cantilevers too.

Wow, wonderful shots!
Are they digital?... They look like film, nice contrast and sharpness!.
I also love the composition and lighting.
At first I thougth the sculpture on top was a real man...
Good work!

Best regards,
Jes.

That's excellent! Fantastic compositions, great tones! Very well done!

Hi Jesito,
Thanks for your kind words...
All digital I am afraid.

Sculpture on the top is Anthony Gormley's work, a cast of his body. There are currently dozens all over the London skyline!!

thanks a lot Carsten!!

The b/w conversion is excellent, the vignetting is perfect for this composition (real or software?).
Impressive pictures, thanks for sharing!

Michael

Hi Michael,

Thanks, and I added a little vignetting in Photoshop.
Neither lens does much on its own...
