Hi.

Well, i'm thinking about swapping my 40D for a 5D MK-II. My main problem is that i dont know if my manual lenses will work on it.

I use M42 and EXAKTA lens adapters.

Will i be safe? Or will they touch the mirror or something?

Thanks. Wink

I believe mirror clearances to be less an issue with the 5D as opposed to , say, the 1D, though I could be wrong, as I have no experience with any of the FF digitals.

My understanding is that all or nearly all M42 lenses will be okay, due to the rearmost mount characteristics. I cannot yet comment on Exakta.

Obviously, if I am wrong, someone else will be along soon enough to correct my erroneous thoughts. Wink

The lenses on your signature list will be ok.
There is no difference betweeen the original 5D mirror and the new one.
Here is a list of lenses that could be a problem (link).

Now that's a relief.

Now i'm confident to sell my aps-c gear and buy a 5D MKii body.

Thanks Wink

This one will be a problem.
Better to get a Planar 1.4/50 to replace him. Wink

I have both the Planar and the SMC Takumar
The Takumar has a smoother bokeh, so the smooth bokeh fans should go for it.
The Planar has better contrast and renders object more dimensionally (i.e.= 3D)
Both are equally sharp stopped down.

Thanks for the explanation Orio. Wink

And what about the exakta mount lens? Will they fit perfectly? When focusing to infinity the rear element wont touch the mirror?

I don't know about Exakta...
