Two Summilux lenses by Peter Elgar, on Flickr
My two 35mm f1.4 early SUMMILUX lenses -- one is CANADIAN on the RIGHT and made 1966, the other is GERMAN made 1988. They are both very 'Soft' at f1.4. I have just switched back to the GERMAN one as some latest tests with the Canadian on my 1965 LEICA M2 were soft at f2.8 and f4 -- not as good as my 35mm PENTAX Super- Takumar f2 for example.

And considering the prices paid for these I would expect them to be stellar performer's.
I've had two of the asahi 35mm f2's they are ok, the F2.4 is quite a bit better IMO

If you use any of those lenses at 5,6 it will hard to you to find a better lens by far.

It's small, light, and if you need the F/1,4, you got it.

In my experience, at F/4,8 to 11 it's a very good lens. And at F/5,6 an excellent one.

Time after I bought a new (by those days) summicron F/2, the last no APO version.

Obviously, a very good lens, but at F/5,6 didn't be as good as the summilux.

At F/2, 2,8 and 4, the summicron won.

At F/8 and 11, very similar rendition.

But at F/5,6, the summilux shine.
