Rescued by me for 5GBP

Saw this chap looking worse for wear in a bargain bucket at a fayre yesterday (Focus; were any other forum members at the NEC yesterday?). No caps or hood and quite dirty. Cleaned up nicely and just ordered a lenscap and hood to cheer him up.

There was also a nice copy of a Pentacon 50/1.8 but it came with a host of other stuff which was largely junk so not worth the money.

Great find indeed - and unpassable for a fiver!

Didn't make it to Focus this year - am holding out until April; there's a rather large camera fair happening in Berlin and a friend and I are heading over. No idea what to expect, but with flights costing €116.00 for two of us, and the hotel at €37.00 per night, I reckon it might be worth the flutter - I might even pick up some worthwhile bits and pieces Wink

Berlin is probably nicer than Birmingham Laughing

So lucky! Always good to hear about a successful lens rescue. I can never find these kind of deals in the states. The German and Russian stuff that I want is hard to find just 'lying' around, or in any form for that matter.

I had never associated Focus with older gear - I always assumed it was one of those trade shows where companies highlight their latest kit Embarassed

Very nice cream colours. Sharp? Well, the meyer 200 is as sharp as your copy is.

Nice bokeh too (is as monster in bokeh as the 135?)

Yes, you did a great rescue!!

Rino.

I knew that the bokeh was the attraction with this lens, but I'm quite taken by how sharp it is and how the colours are rendered.

I thinks this may be my favourite 135 at the moment!

Have you the CZJ 3,5/135?

It's more contrast, more sharp, more saturated and shining colors, more light and focus closer than the Orestor.

It has a very good bokeh (perhaps not as good as the orestor, but not bad).

You can do that a lens with more contast, sharp and saturated colors have less, but not reversed. (As a forum's guy said in other post).

Rino.

Nope, and that is also certainly on my list. I don't have a single 135mm, as a matter of fact, but I'm certain that focal length will be my next target. I'm on the lookout Wink Thanks for the info!

The CZJ 135/3.5 MC S is a really sharp lens and great saturation. HIGHLY recommended. I need to test my 3 135s out side by side, but I know they produce different images.

It really depends on what qualities you want from a lens. it's all down to taste!

I would say for a 135 for me, the two important factors would be bokeh and saturation, in that order (almost equal). Sharpness would come in 3rd. Somewhere in there, minimum focus distance, although that can always be compensated by exntension tubes, I guess.
