Now that i'm out taking pictures and not buying/selling lenses, i'm bored Laughing

Buying and Selling is a very informative and of course, a very social activity

So, I have a new addiction [temporary, but of course]

M39 lenses with the Red N [P in Cyrillic]

So far, I came up with:

1. Jupiter 9 85mm f2

2. Helios 40 85mm f1.5

3. Jupiter 3 50mm f1.5

4. Jupiter 8 50mm f2

5. Jupiter 11 135mm f4

6. Industar 26M 50mm f2.8

7. Industar 50 50mm f3.5

8. Industar 22 50mm f3.5

If you know of any others, do add them to the list!

That is I in Cyrillic and it's like that И.

P is П.

Correct. The И is pronounced like the I in Machine

I've no idea how to type П and I guess Hari had the same issue. Plus, it looks a bit like an N.

What's the character acually called?

Actually, it's an inversed N.
The is no particular name for the letter itself.

The issue is confused here; I was talking about the П not the И. Although both look like N.

Just noticed that my J12 has the red symbol too. Yay!

Yep. Martin's my man. I was talking abt the П

I don't recollect seeing an И on any russian lens till date - do they exist?

Of course, I forgot to mention the good ol M39 Helios 44 Laughing

I also did start to collect Red Army,
currently I have Industar-26, Jupiter-8, Jupiter-9, and Jupiter-12 (this is latest purchase not in my hands yet) I have two FED-2 to use them.

They are stunning lenses in my opinion , I love them pretty much.

If not already answered, upper case П is pronounced p in Cyrillic, the same symbol and letter as the Greek Pi (as in 3.14 you know... but then usually the lower case symbol, which I cannot type on my MAC for some reason).

Well, nice hobby you have got, one could just imagine how long it would take before the LBA would settle in again...

Hey, guys. This is getting very peculiar.
We are beyond just collecting lenses (where most people have already lost us). We now are collecting special versions of lenses. Wink
I guess any "neutral" person who reads this would go like: "What the heck are they talking about?" Laughing

But that's one of the reasons why I love this place so much! Very Happy

Most likely used to make early russian computer chips (i.e micro reproduction)

PostPosted: Fri Dec 10, 2010 11:00 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Its a reproduction lens, so a M76 mount.

You'll usually find it embedded in lens names like Индустар-50 Smile

П is the very first letter for the russain word "ПРОСВЕТЛЁННЫЙ" (prosvetlionnij) meanind "COATED" in English.

At that time it had been the greatest hit of the time. Like MC later.

However at the beginnig of 60-th they stoped to mention it, because it started to be too common for all lenses.
