The Domiplan challenge!

OK, it's taken a battering around these parts recently! How about we MFers do the charitable thing and try to raise the profile of this much maligned lens by pulling them from the depths of our drawers (ooh er!) and taking some good shots with them to:

a) Prove that a decent lens is only one part of the photographic formula

b) Help us sell ours on Laughing

The best Domiplan photos from the past will win MF respect, whilst the best from September 2009 (because you've bothered to get it out and use it again) will win the "MFlenses Domiplan September 2009 Challenge as voted by MFlenses readers Award" Laughing

Is anyone with me on this? Mr. Green

My last shot with this lens was the best I ever took with it.

From half court into the bin..... nothing but net.

Cha!

Wink

This is a very good idea. Just for this i think to buy one. Is that lens so bad ?

I'm joking of course. Would never put a lens in the bin. But I did give mine away.

Fun challenge. We did have a thread a couple years ago that was devoted to showing shots from one certain lens every week (or month).
With all the new membership. Maybe we should try that again.

nice,... never thougt that there could be a reason to own a dimoplan!

"dimoplan wide open contest"... sounds cool! its like "wheelchair users long jump contest".

I still have a few of them as "body caps" of my Exaktas...

Nice proposal. It can show that good photographers do not depend on the equipment... Wink

Regards,

Jes.

haha good one

great, but no way i'll give it a try nonetheless. Razz

It would be cool to have a "one lens per month" thread, with kinda prizes. Stickers, film , beer , whatever .

I've got hundreds of old Kodachrome slides taken with the Domi between 69 and 81. Here's a couple from the same roll, the slides are stamped Jan 1970.

Haha, I was kidding Wink

Peter, those shots are excellent! Proper 1960s Britain Very Happy

OK, I just shot my lovely girlfriend in the kitchen. This one is at f4, because that's what the lens is stuck at and I've lost the one that's stuck at f2.8 Laughing

No PP, just white balance (nasty energy efficient lights!!), hand held at 1/25th second

Shocked

Set the aperture to f11 and give the lens a bang on the table. Works every time for me! Smile

OK, here's my g/f in 1969 (we got married 18 months later)

Motorbike action with a Domiplan. Taken about a month ago. Ongoing project is to take a different ens each week when we go shopping at the local market and it was the Domiplan's turn.

Great idea! But first I need to get one in M42 fitting before the eBay prices hit the stratosphere ...

You know these pics don't look all THAT bad do they? The one of Shrek's g/f has superb softness and smooth bokeh. With better lighting this lens would be ideal for portaits on a crop cam.

Here's a softish one of me and my son in 1978 or 79
