Hi all

I have collected a few Tamron made Soligors during the years. I have five. Do you know if there is more Tamron made models and do you have experience with others?!?

Here is what I got:

250mm f/4.5
135mm f/3.5
135mm f/2.8
135mm f/4.5 (225mm f/7.7)
35mm f/2.8

Howdy back atcha

That's a really nice collection of Soligors made by Tamron. Could you answer a question, please:

We can see in your photo of the first four lenses the "T" prefix in the serial number of each lens.

Cannot quite see the entire serial number of the fifth lens, the Twin. Does that lens's serial number also have a "T" prefix?

Yes, the Twin Soligor has T prefix too Wink

I would look for the tele lenses, thx guys. Any other lenses with "T" prefix around? Surprised

Understood. Thanks

So the "T" prefix on an old MF Soligor is a pretty consistent "tell" regarding Tamron manufacture.

Very interesting. Good to know! Wink

Yes, T prefix means Tamron

I realized I had another T prefix Soligor in LTM Surprised
But this time in the end of the Serial. This lens doesn`t look tamron to me Surprised

Interesting.

OK, but that's a "T" suffix, not a prefix. It really does not violate the "Soligor "T" prefix means Tamron" precedent established by the first five lenses you have shown us. That sixth lens is a very nice looking lens, even though I've no idea what company manufactured it. Confused

Well you are right, English is not my native language so things may come out strange sometimes Very Happy
I sometimes writes "Angel" when I mean "Angle" and lots of other mess.

I know Komura made som similar looking lenses, but this lens is a RF lens and is somewhat smaller than the Komura lenses for m42 I have seen. But! I also have another RF Soligor 35mm f/3.5 with "K" suffix (I did it right this time) Very Happy
I am pretty sure this one is made by Komura...

I reckon that 3.5/35 is a Kowa.

I've never seen a rf Soligor, are they rare?

Naaa, it's all good. You surely had me fooled. You write English a lot better than many Americans for whom it is ostensibly a first language!!

I only raised and highlighted the prefix/suffix thing because I think this is a valuable and helpful thread for lens students who, like myself, are trying to learn and trying to get a handle on these lenses.

Efforts to identify manufacturers of these old lenses are too often akin to deciphering the Rosetta stone in that attention must be paid to fine details.

It`s just very similar when I compare to my Komura 35mm...

I only know about three RF m39 Soligors and they are pretty rare yes.
It is the 35mm f/3.5, 105mm f/4 and the 135mm f/3.5 Wink

Here is the Komura:

Well, I try my best and I fully agree on the details! Very Happy

Yes
Here it is Smile

I have 2 more of those old Tamrons ( 5.9/200 and 7.5/400) but they are named Haminex-Tamron and not Soligor.

The 300/6.9 and 200/5.9 are quite hard to find!

During my research I've seen only 3 distinct serial numbers of 300/6.9 (here on mflenses - one in posession of std, rockycameras and Polish auction portal which is now mine). Not big population I must say (and sample is so small that it is hard to estimate production volume).

Anyone ever seen that Tamron/Soligor 58mm 1.2 in reality?

PostPosted: Thu Aug 07, 2014 5:43 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

The 58/1.2 has never been seen as a Sologor AFAIK.
That's why I said it was one of the only two Tamron presets never sold as a Soligor.
The other is the 200/2.8, also a rare lens.
Every other Tamron preset I think can be found in the Soligor brand, though they may be very uncommon.

I will try to take one for you. Similar in appearance to your 250/4.5.
